Chiropractic care comes in many forms but one in particular has been developed especially to offer a more gentle and holistic treatment. Sacro-Occipital Technique (or SOT) is an advanced concept in chiropractic, having been practiced and refined since the 1940’s. It recognises the importance of the relationship between the Sacrum (base of spine) and the Occiput (base of the skull). The brain and spinal cord are suspended by anchor points to the inside of the skull, spine and pelvis. Any misalignment of the cranial/spinal bones puts pressure on the brain, spinal cord and nerves – causing strain on the entire body. This can go undetected as there are often no or only subtle signs and symptoms, but parents often know there is something “not quite right”. Pressure and strain on the nervous system affects our entire body by blocking proper nerve signals which control our body’s health.

It’s no secret that chiropractic addresses pain effectively. The benefits don’t stop there, though. Chiropractic was developed to reduce the effects that spinal dysfunction can have on the nervous system. Such dysfunction can disrupt the proper communication between the brain and the body. To maintain overall health, both must communicate clearly allowing the body to be healthier and allowing you to feel better.
